Reflux or heartburn is a very common problem affecting many people. After appropriate investigation the majority of people are supplied anti-acid tablets which are effective at long term control of symptoms. In a selected number of patients who have side effects with tablets or problems with regurgitation , a keyhole procedure can be recommended to repair the valve that keeps stomach acid out of the food pipe, this operation can be life changing. Anti-reflux surgery is an area of interest to Mr Andrews, who runs national courses for training surgeons with this procedure.
