Inguinal hernias are very common, most frequently in men and appear as a bulge in the groin, which can travel down to the scrotum. It is possible to live with hernias of this nature, however if they cause pain or have ever got stuck or are expanding rapidly then they should be repaired.
Mr Andrews specialises in Laparoscopic (Keyhole) repair of these, using both TEP and TAPP technique.
This procedure can usually be done as a day case and the keyhole repair is certainly advised for recurrent hernias or bilateral (a hernia on both sides of your abdomen) as the outcome is better in terms of less pain and more sound result.
